Responsibilities and duties:
Assisting the Accounting Manager as needed, but not limited to:
• Liaising directly with clients to source new work for the accounting department
• Responsible for budgeting and meeting set targets for the department as a whole
• Supervising 2-5 accountants to achieve set goals
• Writing up of more complex accounting records of clients on Pastel/SageOne Accounting
• Preparing accounting work relating to annual financial statements
• Preparation of monthly Management Accounts
• Assisting in general accounting and payroll related duties for clients
• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
• Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
• Provide technical support and advice on accountants
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
• Generating fees related to accounting admin
• Issuing Billings and manage WIP
• Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
• Provide input into department’s goal setting process
• Support month-end and year-end close process
• Provide recommendations

Qualification and experience requirements:
• B Com Accounting or equivalent degree
• Minimum of 3 years experience within the accounting and/or SAIPA articles field
• Strong knowledge of accounting and accounting concepts
• Ability to meet with client and sell work to be done
• Knowledge of the Caseware AFS drafting package
• Presentable and well spoken
• Is fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English
• A meticulous and detailed person
• Computer literature in Pastel, SageOne Accounting, Xero, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Office and SARS e-filling
• VAT Returns, PAYE and returns, UIF
• VAT and PAYE audits from SARS
• Must be self-motivated
• Must be able to lead a team and work in a team
• Able to take own initiative and think out of the box
• Traveling to clients will be expected
• Overtime will be required from time to time to meet client deadlines
